China & India in the next 5 years : Challenges and Opportunities

Yashwant Sinha
Former Finance Minister of India
Mr. Sinha is a widely traveled person. He was the first Indian to be elected Chairman of Development Committee of the World Bank and the IMF in August, 2000 and facilitated inter-governmental consensus building on developmental issues. He was elected Chairman of the G-20, a group of systemically important countries from the point of view of the world economy. He was the first Finance Minister from the non G-8 countries to chair this Committee. Mr. Sinha was External Affairs Minister of India for two years from July 1, 2002 to May, 2004. Mr. Sinha has been re-elected to the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) of Indian Parliament in July, 2004.

China’s former Vice Minister of Trade
Mr. Long Yongtu as the Former Vice Minister of Trade in China, responsible for trade negotiations and multilateral economic and legal affairs. He is the Chief Negotiator for China’s resumption of GATT contracting party status and its accession to the World Trade Organization. he is also in charge of the multilateral economic and trade affairs between China and the United Nations development agencies. He led the first Chinese delegation to the OECD in Paris in January 1995 and established the relationship of dialogue partner with the organization. He is fully involved in APEC affairs and attended the APEC trade ministers meetings and informal meetings of economic leaders held in Seattle, Jakarta, Osaka, Manila, Vancouver Auckland, Brunei and Shanghai.

Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes

Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes is a legend of sorts — the AirAsia group chief executive officer was conferred the Capa (Centre for AsiaPacific Aviation) Legend Award for 2009, the youngest receipient so far.To add another feather in his cap, the Malaysian low-cost carrier and its long-haul budget airline AirAsia X walked away with the prestigious Airline of the Year Award.“It’s a great honour for me and the company. I would be lying if I said I am not happy. You would be a legend only because of the people behind you,” Fernandes said he was pleased that his fairy-tale success in introducing a budget carrier had given a lot of motivation to children and university students to believe in their dreams.
